Abstract:A computer program for the direct linearly elastic analysis of complex bridge bents and other highway structures has been developed and is reported herein. Rigid frames, trusses, continuous beams, and other planar structures may be analyzed using the program. The beam-column model previously reported has been modified so that loads and restraints may act both normal and parallel to the members of the frame. This allows the designer to consider vertical or inclined piles as an integral part of the frame, even if the pile is supported by lateral and axial soil restraints.
