Abstract:The Annual Report of the Maritime Administration (MARAD) for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1986, is submitted in accordance with Section 298 of the Merchant Marine Act, 1936, as amended. It incorporates reports required by the Congress on the following topics: acquisition of obsolete vessels in exchange for credit; war-risk insurance activities; scrapping or removal of obsolete vessels owned by the United States; and U.S.· flag carriage of Government-sponsored cargoes. No reportable activities occurred during FY 1986 concerning the allocation of construction- and operating-differential subsidy to port ranges and the settlement of claims arising under the Suits in Admiralty Act.
