Abstract:This Special Federal Aviation Regulation (SFAR) establishes temporary procedures for the operation of all aircraft in the airspace above the Grand Canyon up to an altitude of 9,000 feet above mean sea level (MSL). In recent years, the high volume of air traffic over the park has increased the risk of midair collision. The overflights also generated noise impacts on park surface areas to a degree which may be inconsistent with Federal policies for operation of the Park.
