Abstract:

These amendments upgrade the fire safety standards for cargo or baggage compartments in certain transport category airplanes used in air carrier, air taxi, or commercial service. Ceiling and sidewall liner panels that are not constructed of aluminum or glass fiber reinforced resin must be replaced with improved panels prior to a specified date. These standards are the result of research and fire testing and are intended to increase airplane fire safety.
