Abstract:The main goal of this study is to develop a rapid technique for mapping and assessing erodibility and internal erosion damage. The research objectives include: (1) identify levees where sand boils, seepage damage, or erosion damage are present, (2) conduct laboratory tests on benchmark samples and samples retrieved from levees to define relationships between soil type, erodibility, and resistivity, (3) measure resistivity and shear wave velocity in the field and map internal damage using the relationships defined, (4) evaluate erosion predictions by comparing mapped damage with visible distress signs and collect samples to confirm these predictions (when possible).
The total size of the .zip file is 23.4 GB. The .xlsx and .xls file types are Microsoft Excel files, which can be opened with Excel, and other free available spreadsheet software, such as OpenRefine. The .jpg file extension is associated with JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) file format. JPEG is a lossy image compression algorithm that significantly reduces the file size of the original image at the cost of quality. The higher the compression ratio the lower the quality of the .jpg file (for more information on .jpg files and software, please visit https://www.file-extensions.org/jpg-file-extension). The .docx file is a Microsoft Word file, which can be opened with Word and other free word processor programs, such as Kingsoft Writer, OpenOffice Writer, Apache OpenOffice, and ONLYOFFICE. The .ini file extension is primarily used for configuration files in many Windows applications. A typical .ini file contains set of parameters for the program to be used when it’s started. Probably short for initialize, (for more information on .ini files and software, please visit https://www.file-extensions.org/ini-file-extension). The Portable Document Format (PDF) file format was developed by Adobe Systems and represents two-dimensional documents in a device-independent and resolution-independent format. There are PDF readers available on many platforms, such as Xpdf, Foxit, and Adobe's own Adobe Acrobat Reader. PDF readers/viewers or online services for basic functions are generally free (for more information on .pdf files and software, please visit https://www.file-extensions.org/pdf-file-extension).
