Riparian and watershed restoration and enhancement has gained the spotlight in recent years. Effective restoration techniques are not often well understood. The Forest Service began a program of watershed restoration about 10 years ago. The focus of this effort was to "keep the water on the mountain" and as a result improve riparian habitat. The objective of this project is to publish a riparian restoration guide which will be used as a reference document for use in understanding wet meadow functions, identifying treatment opportunities, planning and implementing new or remedial treatments, and monitoring results.
