Abstract:This work was accomplished as part of the fAA's Airways facility RE&D Program, managed by Brenda Boone. ALM-loo and George Booth, ARD-1OO. Dan Wagner, ACD-350, Is the project manager. ; This report Is a review of the human factors literature on visual and auditory symbols. The review Is the first step In an effort to develop a set of standard symbols for use throughout Airway facilities. The topics Included In the review are: general principles, experimental findings, and standard guidelines. The report also includes an annotated bibliography and a list of possible research topics suggested by gaps In the experimental findings.
