Abstract:The purpose of this study was to conduct the annual Vermont seat belt survey for 2016 at 82 roadside locations to determine the percentage of drivers and front-seat passengers who were using seat belts. The field work for this survey was conducted primarily during the months of June, July, and August in 2016, following the annual “Click-It-or-Ticket” campaign in May. Following the field observations, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)-approved procedures were followed to develop a statewide weighted average of seat-belt use, along with an estimate of the standard error and the non-response rate for the 2016 survey.
