Abstract:

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) presents a statistical profile of transportation in the 50 states and the District of Columbia. This document supplements a previously published series of individual state profiles. Like the individual state report series, this document presents transportation information from BTS, other federal government agencies, and other national sources. A picture of the states' infrastructure, freight movement and passenger travel, safety, vehicles, economy and finance, and energy and environment is presented in tables covering the 50 states and the District of Columbia. The state tables that appeared in the initial series have been updated with the most recently available data. Tables specific to an individual state that appeared in the earlier state reports here include all 50 states and the District of Columbia wherever possible.
