This report presents guidelines and procedures for local highway jurisdictions to use in evaluating requests to allow 129,000-pound trucks on local routes in the state of Idaho. The procedures outlined in this report are based on and follow the Idaho Code 49-1004A (1), which states, “the authority having jurisdiction may designate routes ... for vehicles not exceeding ... 129,000-pounds, utilizing criteria established by the board based upon road and bridge structural integrity and engineering standards.” All the results of the report are presented under four main categories: offtracking, bridges and culverts, pavement and gravel roads, and crash analysis.
