A new Bureau of Transportation Statistics survey found that: Nationally, almost 15 million people in this country have difficulties getting the transportation they need. Of these, about 6 million (40 percent) are people with disabilities. More than 3.5 million people in this country never leave their homes. Of these, 1.9 million (54 percent) are people with disabilities. About 560,000 disabled people indicate they never leave home because of transportation difficulties.
