Abstract:
This report was prepared by Traffic Engineering personnel, from the West Virginia Division of Highways. The data contained in this report is collected from Uniform Traffic Crash Reports submitted by state law enforcement agencies. These law enforcement agencies include the West Virginia State Police, all County Sheriff’s Departments, Municipal Police Departments, as well as other agencies. We wish to acknowledge their efforts, as this report would not be possible without the crash investigations they conduct. The 2002 West Virginia Crash Data Report has been revised from previous editions. The changes to this report are part of our continuing effort to provide valuable information to the users. The revisions reflect the input of many organizations and people. We encourage you to use caution when comparing the data within the 2002 Report to data in reports prior to year 2000.
