Abstract:

The Institute for Trade and Transportation Studies (ITTS) serves as a regional organization of state departments of transportation in the Southeast. The ITTS provides research data and expert opinions to its members concerning the effects of commercial freight movements on domestic and international activities, with reference to infrastructure and transportation needs, and safety implications. ITTS evolved from the Latin American Trade and Transportation Studies, funded by the member state departments of transportation and the federal government. This report highlights the work that ITTS, under the direction of its member states, undertook during the contract period. The work consisted of organizing and speaking at meetings, working with member states on the adoption of federal legislation, technical assistance, additional work on regional highway networks and analytical tools, training, and other duties as requested.
