    This policy paper describes the current initiatives and potential policy goals and actions that the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) could implement to improve public safety on the State's public roadways. these goals and actions were adopted as part of TranPlan 21 and provide framework for more specific statewide goals, objectives, and trends detailed in Montana's Comeprehensive Highway Safety plan, accessible at http://www.mdt.mt.gov/publications/docs/brochures/safety/current_chsp.pdf. The CHSP was prepared in compliance with the reuqirements of SAFETEA-LU and contains implementation strategies and a management plan for measuring and monitoring progress towards achieving Montan's safety goals.
