Abstract:This study was undertaken as a pilot study of motor carrier services provided to eight communities located in North Dakota with populations of 5000 people or less. The intentions of the study are to provide insight into the level and adequacy of motor carrier service , traffic characteristics of the shipments , as well as the perceptions of business representatives with respect to deregulation. The findings of this study will be tested in a later study entitled "The Level and Adequacy of Motor Carrier Services Provided to Small Rural Communities in North Dakota".
