Abstract:On all public roads in Arkansas during 2002 there were: 70,904 total crashes reported, a 3.1 % increase from 2001. 557 fatal crashes reported, a 3.5 % increase from 2001 641 fatalities reported, a 4.9 % increase from 2001. 243 alcohol/drug related fatalities, a 14.1 % increase from 2001. 29.2 billion vehicle miles traveled, a 2.4 % increase from 2001. The fatality rate increased from 2.1 in 2001 to 2.2 fatalities per 100 MVM* traveled. The fatal crash rate remained steady at 1.9 fatal crashes per 100 MVM* traveled.
