Abstract:The purpose of the test reported herein was to assess the performance of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) T80SS barrier with soundwall according to the safety-performance evaluation guidelines included in the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware (MASH). The crash test was performed in accordance with MASH Test 5-12, which involves a 36000V vehicle weighing 79,300 lb impacting the longitudinal barrier while traveling at 50 mi/h and 15 degrees. This report provides details on the TxDOT T80SS barrier with soundwall, a description and results of the crash test, and a performance assessment of the TxDOT T80SS barrier with soundwall for MASH Test 5-12 longitudinal barrier evaluation criteria. The TxDOT T80SS barrier with soundwall met the performance criteria for MASH Test 5-12 for longitudinal barriers.
