Abstract:

Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) in partnership with Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) hosted a two-day Virtual Peer Exchange on June 1 and 2, 2020. This peer exchange was originally planned to be a three-day in person meeting. To use more innovative platforms, this meeting was shifted to a virtual/ online platform and condensed to two half-day sessions. This event explored how 10 State DOT’s have structured their respective internal innovation programs and how they are setup to leverage resources through State Transportation Innovation Councils (STIC) coordination efforts. Day one was an innovation program overview with state innovation presentations. Day two focused on innovation communications, lessons learned and future directions. States represented were California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Iowa, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Utah, and Washington.
