    The objective of this study was to develop a correlation between lab tests performed using the CoreLok (Idaho -IT-144) method and results from the AASHTO T-84 procedure for fine aggregates in Idaho. These tests are used to determine critical aggregate parameters such as (a) absorption, (b) Gsa, (c) Gsb, and (d) GsbSSD. The AASHTO T-84 procedure takes up to three days to complete, and also requires considerable expertise to recognize the SSD condition. In contrast, the CoreLok method can be completed within 30 minutes, and provides consistent, repeatable results which are not influenced to the level of T-84 by operator experience. Unfortunately, the CoreLok results for Idaho aggregates do not always agree with values from a T-84 test. To investigate the differences, 116 T-84 and 101 CoreLok tests were performed on 25 fine aggregates commonly used by ITD. The carefully conducted tests revealed that the Gsa values determined from both tests were very similar at a 95 percent level of significance, while the absorption and Gsb values showed significant differences. This study used uncorrected values of absorption and Gsb from the CoreLok method to develop correlations between the absorption and Gsb values determined using a more intricate AASHTO T-84 procedure. As the CoreLok Gsa values were found to be reliable, only correlations for predicting absorption and Gsb were considered by this study. A multi-variable, linear correlation was found to predicts the Gsb value based on the uncorrected Gsb and the Gsa value from CoreLok tests.
