Abstract:The Center for Transportation and the Environment (CTE) partnered with the University of Texas Center for Electromechanics (UT-CEM), Utah Transit Authority (UTA), Mobile Climate Control, and Transworld Associates to develop a system that will electrify the auxiliary loadsof a paratransit vehicle to improve efficiency and passenger comfort by eliminating engine idling during passenger pickups. The project team is responsible for system design, demonstration, and reporting of results. The project received funding as part of the FTA Bus Efficiency Enhancements Research and Demonstration Projects.
