Abstract:
Acoustic emission monitoring has been used to provide additional confirmation that ultrasonic indications in a forged trunnion shaft are active fatigue cracks. An advanced all digital AE monitoring system developed by Vallen Systeme GmbH of Icking Germany was applied in a setup that used linear location and guard channels. A unique signal processing approach that combines both spatial and temporal clustering was used to eliminate the large amount of
