Abstract:In 1995, 5,585 pedestrians were killed in traffic crashes in the United States. Figure 1 shows trends in pedestrian and total traffic fatalities, 1985-1995; and Figure 2, pedestrian fatalities by time of day and day of week, 1995. Of the tables, Table 1 shows pedestrian fatalities and injuries by age group, 1995; Table 2, nonoccupant traffic fatalities, 1985-1995; Table 3, alcohol involvement in fatal pedestrian crashes, 1995; Table 4, pedestrian fatalities and injuries and fatality and injury rates by age and sex, 1995; and Table 5, pedestrian traffic fatalities and fatality rates by state, 1995.
