  This report summarizes the financial and operating data submitted annually to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) by the nation's public transit operators, pursuant to 49 USC 5335. This report consists of 2 chapters and 33 tables. Chapter 1 contains an introduction, and Chapter 2 describes the tables and what data they contain. Tables 1 through 14 present transit agency funding and expense data, tables 15 through 17 present revenue vehicle maintenance and energy consumption data, tables 18 through 20 present transit way mileage data, table 21 presents employee data, tables 22 through 27 present safety and security data, and tables 28 through 33 present operating statistics and performance indicators. Several appendices provide additional amplifying information. All data in this report are for transit system fiscal years ending on or between January 1 and December 31 , . 1999.
