These maps show all airports open for public use and change as new airports open, existing ones close, or as they change ownership and/or function. All airports must be certified by the State. Ma111 shows all airports in the State of Illinois which are open for public use. The airports are shown as being either publicly or privately owned. They are also identified according to the four airport funding categories: Primary, Commercial Service, Reliever and General Aviation. Ma11s 2 and 3 are enlargements of the Chicago area and the St. Louis Metro East area. In addition to showing airport ownership, the length of the longest runway and whether or not that runway is turf is also indicated.
