Abstract:The Intermodal surface Transportation Act of 1991 revised the criteria by which new start and guideway extension transit projects are evaluated for discretionary capital funding to include land use policies and patterns. As a result of this requirement, the Federal Transit Administration developed evaluation criteria and an evaluation process for incorporating land use policies and conditions in the evaluation of new start projects. This report documents the pilot application of the land use criteria and evaluation process to nine projects across the U.S.
