Abstract:This document reports on survey results of transportation management centers across the nation, where information about the roadway system is collected and transferred out using various dissemination strategies. Some travel information dissemination strategies include: variable message signs (VMS), highways advisory radio (HAR), radio broadcast, cable television (CATV), personal computers/modems, interactive information kiosks, and real-time-dial-in telephone systems. Information is disseminated on traffic conditions, alternative routes, adverse weather & driving conditions, construction zones, and special lane use. Traffic management centers offer public/private partnership the opportunity to work together to accomplish a variety of task
