• Abstract:
  A cooperative study between Oregon State University and the Oregon Department of Transportation will investigate the DMSO test used to evaluate aggregate resistance to deterioration. One purpose of the study is to identify the types of rock containing clay mineral which DMSO can accurately identify. A second is to conclude if rock reactive with DMSO can be used in a pavement or base structure. If successful, the study will result in fewer post-construction failures, more conservative engineering designs, and a significant cost savings to the State.
