Presented at the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting 2019, Poster Session 1552: Making Transportation Research Smart, Sustainable, and Equitable Through Libraries, Information, and Data. This poster outlines the creation of metrics dashboards for the National Transportation Library (NTL) and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS). Beginning in the summer of 2018, NTL began creating metrics dashboards to visually communicate digital repository use, reference requests, and website traffic to inform decision making on strategy, policy, and staffing. This poster covers the the identification of metrics to track or improve including; digital repository use, reference requests, and website traffic; implementation and documentation of standardized metrics capture; workflow for cleaning metrics data; strategic design of metrics dashboards; creation of metrics dashboards using Tableau; and long-term preservation of metrics and dashboards.
