Abstract:

Like many freeway traffic management systems around the country, the NOVA STC system was implemented in phases over a period of years. As a result, some field components had reached their maximum life cycle, including a portion of the CCTV subsystem. VDOT retained the services of a team of private sector experts (TrafficLand and Digital Traffic Systems) to review CCTV imagery quality and determine the issues affecting system performance and solutions to improve the quality of the video imagery. This report details the results of that effort.
