• Abstract:
  This report synthesizes results from an inventory and analysis of transportation trail assets in the Northeast Region (NER) of the National Park Service (NPS). Based on park unit feedback, this report: (1) recommends a revised definition of transportation trails, (2) identifies NER assets that fit this working definition, (3) summarizes the current status of trails-relevant performance measures from the 2013 NER Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), (4) details park-identified priorities for transportation trail investments through 2023, and (5) provides summary conclusions and recommendations for future monitoring and management of transportation trail assets. This report also includes information on potential external funding opportunities for transportation trails and related connections that may be useful for NER park units.
