  There are significant gaps in the understanding of pavement and bridge preservation and it will require a comprehensive and broadly supported program of research, development and technology transfer to fill those gaps. The FHWA has partnered with the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and the preservation industry to sponsor a study to determine what the most critical knowledge gaps in pavement and bridge preservation are and what research is necessary to fill those gaps. This Transportation System Preservation (TSP) Research, Development, and Implementation Roadmap is the output of that partnership effort.
