Abstract:The objectives of this project are to continue the enhancements to the combined Broadband Electromagnetic and Full Encirclement Unit (BEM-FEU) technologies and to evaluate the system’s capability in the laboratory and the field. The BEM instrument can, with proper calibration, estimate the condition of metal pipe walls without the need to remove coatings. The FEU automates the movement of the BEM sensor about the exterior of the pipe and is suitable for use in a keyhole excavation.
