Abstract:

The researchers took a commodity-based approach to evaluate the value of a list of selected commodities moved on the Texas freight network. This approach takes advantage of commodity-specific data sources and modeling processes. It provides a unique way of performing commodity flow estimation and offers more disaggregated modeling results. The estimated value of commodities can be used to support infrastructure investment decisionmaking. The researchers also evaluated the impact of seasonal variation and congestion on commodity flow

movements.
