Abstract:During the summer (September – October) of 2010, Volpe Center personnel deployed acoustic measurement system at Fort Bowie National Historic Site (FOBO) for approximately one month. The baseline data collected during this period will help park managers and planners estimate the effects of future noise impacts and will help to inform future park planning objectives such as creating acoustic resource management plans, as well as the development of an Air Tour Management Plan (ATMP), which provides for the regulation of commercial air tours. The sound sources of concern at FOBO include developments near park boundaries, air tours, commercial and private aircraft activities, and requests for special use permits for noisy activities. This document summarizes the results of the noise measurement study.
