Alternative Title:
An algebraic equation solution process formulated in anticipation of banded linear equations : development of methods for computer simulation of beam-columns and grid-beam and slab systems.
A general method for the solution of large, sparsely banded, positive-definite, coefficient matrices is presented. The goal in developing the method was to produce an efficient and reliable solution process and to provide the user-programmer with a package which is problem-independent, efficient, and easy to use, so that program development time can be spent in problem analysis rather than on solution technique. The procedures have been developed specifically to deal with matrices generated by three and five-wide difference operators, whether symmetrical or unsymmetrical.
