Abstract:

This demonstration project will provide an opportunity for policy and decision makers from transportation agencies including State and local Departments of Transportation (DOTs), Departments of Public Works (DPWs), and Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) to become aware of the state-of-the-practice technologies available to assist them in corridor management. DP 105 will make top State and local highway managers, planning policy makers, and administrators aware of the significant role of these corridor management technologies in controlling congestion and improving mobility and safety. This demonstration project will be an effective method of providing a timely transfer of technology. In addition, there is a need for providing adequate technical assistance to operate and maintain these systems. DP 105 will focus on proven corridor management systems and will use information on existing and emerging technologies in the development of the educational and training material.
