Abstract:The Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) Crash Avoidance Public Acceptance report summarizes data from a survey of the current level of awareness and acceptance of V2V technology. The survey was guided by findings from prior studies and 12 focus groups. A total of 1,532 participants responded to the survey in September 2015. The report also provides information on benefits, barriers, and potential communications channels. Results of the Study show that approximately 49 percent of respondents were classified as “accepters” of V2V technology (proportion of accepters; margin of error = ±2.5 percent). “Non-accepters” comprised 26 percent of the respondents, and “fencesitters” (those who are undecided or neutral about V2V technology) comprised 25 percent. This confirms information gleaned during the focus groups.
