This report focuses on the system integration aspect of the Transportation Information Management System (TIMS), a component of the FAST-TRAC project. The TIMS functions as the center of a communications network which integrates advanced traffic control with traffic surveillance and traveler information systems. The TIMS also collects and distributes traffic information across jurisdictional levels of traffic agencies. The case study describes the system integration process, the institutional context, the evolution of the systems integration approach, lessons learned, and future prospects.
