Abstract:This report relates to the identification and quantification of the constituents of highway runoff. It includes the details of monitoring site selection, field monitoring procedures, analysis of accumulated data, conclusions, significant findings and limitations. A total of 159 storm events were monitored at six sites between Spring of 1976 to September, 1977. The data were evaluated for: rainfall/runoff relationships; highway runoff pollutants loadings and variations with time; differences in pollutant characteristics from paved and non-paved areas; correlation of pollutants amongst measured parameters as well as with highway operation related factors.
