Seven wet detention ponds possessing severe maintenance issues were selected from disparate FDOT districts. The maintenance problems ranged from excess littoral zone growth and intense algal blooms to bank erosion and sediment accumulation. Intensive field campaigns were performed to ascertain pollutant levels throughout the water column and in the sediment. Best Management Practices (BMPs) were implemented at each wet detention pond which best addressed that ponds maintenance problem. Sampling campaigns over the time period of Phase 2 were carried out to assess the effectiveness of each BMP.
