Abstract:This report summarizes the outcomes of a Peer Exchange conducted at the request of the
Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) on November 13-16, 2006. Peer exchanges
are required of State Departments of Transportation as a condition of receipt of federal
funding for research activities. This “exchange” was an opportunity for panel members from
the Connecticut Department of Transportation, the Louisiana Department of Transportation
and Development, a private sector transportation research management firm, the Federal
Highway Administration (FHWA), and the Joint Transportation Research Program (JTRP)
representatives to evaluate the INDOT Research Program and to share experiences and best
practices with INDOT research staff. This is the third peer exchange conducted by the
INDOT Research Program since 1998.
