  The expressed objectives of the peer exchange were to: ; • Increase ways to increase involvement of local governments (county and city ; engineers, county highway and public works officials) in all facets of the research ; process. ; • Improve implementation of research results and new technologies into practice at ; the local level. ; • Identify procedural improvements that will reduce work for those involved in the ; research process and improve final products. ; • Improve the research implementation system for project reporting and benefit ; calculations.
