Abstract:

This document examines functions, operations, organizational structures, floor layouts and institutional relationships provided by existing traffic operations centers (TOCs) in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Japan. The purpose of this activity is to identify those design features achieving success, or lack thereof, at existing TOCs, incorporate the positive design variables, and eliminate the negatives, thereby benefiting the Denver area TOC design based on the experiences of operating centers.
