• Abstract:
  The purpose of this document is to relate the experiences learned during the recent Traffic Operations Center (TOC) Tour. This tour included visits to the following: - COMPASS - Highway 401 Traffic Management System in the Toronto Metropolitan Area. - INFORM - Long Island, NY Freeway Traffic Management System. - Metro Toronto SCOOT Demonstration Project. The purpose of the TOC tour was to allow the participants to gain an insider’s view of the activities which comprise each center’s daily operations. This document will present details concerning the center’s functions, responsibilities and provisions in order to provide a thorough understanding of how these facilities operate and what they aim to accomplish Within subsequent sections of this document, details of each center’s system will be compared to the initial design criteria and operational needs of the Denver Metro Area TOC. These sections will identify key areas in which to examine the need for and feasibility of implementing specific TOC functions in the Denver Metro Area
