Abstract:A study performed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reveals that the public is open to a ban on hand-held cell phone use while driving. The study is based on data from 2009's Omnibus Household Survey (OHS), which is administered by BTS to a national sample of approximately 1,000 households. The OHS assesses the public's satisfaction with the U.S. transportation system. In October 2009, the survey examined public perceptions1 of several activities related to distracted driving, including cell phone use (see table 1).
