Abstract:The Oregon Department of Transportation tested an automated means of collecting data from paving trucks as an alternative to the traditional method of "ticket taking". A computerized communication system was designed and built by Quality Design Systems, Inc. (QDSI) of Eagle, Idaho to track and log information about vehicles and loads. The system's performance was adequate, except when overheated.
