Abstract:

As states begin to consider full-scale deployment of intelligent transportation system (ITS) technologies to support commercial vehicle operations (CVO), Governors and state legislatures will need answers to the following questions: (1) What savings and additional revenues from increased efficiency can the state expect to accrue from these initiatives? (2) How much will the state need to invest in ITS/CVO deployment? (3) To help states answer these questions, the National Governors’ Association (NGA)Center for Best Practices developed a state ITS/CVO fiscal analysis model.
