Abstract:

The Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Strategic Planning Committee was formed in May, 1997, with individuals from various public and private organizations.The primary objective was to lay groundwork for short-term and long-term commitments for ITS projects in Louisiana. The committee was then divided into three subcommittees based on the ITS services relevant to Louisiana. The three subcommittees were Travel and Traffic Management, Commercial Vehicle Operations (CVO) and Electronic Payment, and Public Transportation and Emergency Management.
