• Abstract:
  The Louisiana Department of Highways has adopted new designs for the Standard Plans for the RCB 22X catch basin to replace the old standard cast iron grate with either a welded bar steel grate or an alternate riveted steel reticuline grate. This revision was brought about by a request from the manufacturers for a new design of the cast iron grate because of casting problems and previous research which indicated that the cast iron grate was inefficient. ; The grate designs were selected on the basis of information gained in conferences with grate manufacturers and limited testing of several preliminary prototypes. This insured that the grates could be economically manufactured. However, hydraulic capacity tests were not run on the final design grates. Data was also not available on the capacity for the RCB 31X Revised welded bar steel grate.
