Abstract:This document reviews the history and current status of computer models of the evacuation of an airliner cabin. Basic concepts upon which evacuation models are based are discussed, followed by a review of the Civil Aerospace Medical Institute s efforts during the 1970s. A comparison is made of the three models available today (GA Model, AIREVAC, and EXODUS). The report then reviews parameters common to models, and discusses literature available as a basis for these parameters. Finally, the report briefly discusses validation exercises for evacuation models.
